Why publish open access with CABI?

CABI believes that a crucial way to solve problems in agriculture and the environment is by creating and sharing information. Our experience in scientific research, publishing, knowledge management and communications, helps us to put knowledge into the hands of the people who need it most. Through our open access books programme, we contribute to the removal of barriers to accessing research and knowledge, publishing across a wide range of subject areas within the applied life sciences and tourism.

Who we work with

CABI works for and with universities, national research and extension institutions, development agencies, the private sector, national and local governments, charities and foundations, farmers and non-governmental organizations.

We also publish titles on behalf of, or in association with, a number of learned societies, research institutes, commercial companies and donor organizations.

  • Freely available online

Our open access books are freely and immediately available online upon publication. They are accessible to anyone worldwide, which ensures distribution to the widest possible audience.

  • High visibility

All CABI's open access books are indexed, down to chapter level, in CAB Abstracts and (where relevant) Global Health, bringing them to a global audience of researchers, teachers and students. All open access books produced by CABI are submitted to the Directory of Open Access Books, an international database established to improve the discoverability of Open Access books.

  • Authors retain copyright

CABI's open access books are published under the Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-ND. This license allows people to download your work and share it with others, as long as they credit you. But they can’t change it in any way or use it commercially.

  • Many book types available

CABI accepts manuscripts for authored and edited books of academic monographs, practitioner books and conference proceedings. We produce open access books from 128 pages up to more than 400 pages.

  • The highest quality standards

CABI's open access books follow the same production and publishing processes as traditional CABI books. We offer excellent author care from our team of dedicated staff and will advise you on the best way to ensure maximum quality of your book.
